SFIT- Stakeholder Survey - For the Future of Smart Fabrics and Interactive Textiles (SFIT) in Europe
Dear Stakeholder
We would like to ask your attention and collaboration for an important survey among the stakeholders of smart fabrics and interactive textiles in Europe. The objective is to find out, what you consider to be the opportunities for this emerging industry. At the same time we wish to identify bottlenecks and any obstacles in order to improve the support structures and support measures to strengthen Europe’s position in this field.
For your Information
“Today around 15 European projects involve activities in the area of intelligent textiles. Considering that European funding covers only for 10% of total research funding in Europe, one could estimate that in total 100-150 projects on intelligent textiles are being funded. This demonstrates that Europe has taken the lead in further developments in this area. Nevertheless only very few products are actually available on the market. The transfer of research results to the market fails. The objective of SysTex is to identify the hurdles in this transfer process and to initiate actions to overcome them. SysTex wants to become the platform FOR, ABOUT and BY all stakeholders in the area of intelligent textiles. SysTex will pave the way for the real breakthrough of intelligent textiles in Europe.” Prof. Lieva van Langenhove
SysTex aims at developing a framework for current and future actions in research, education and technology transfer in the field of e-textiles and wearable micro systems / electronics in Europe to support the textile industry in the most efficient and effective way to transform into a dynamic, innovative, knowledge-driven competitive and sustainable sector.
You were selected as one of approximately 100 professionals, who are considered to have major interests and stakes in the field, whether as a scientist or as an industry representative. The selection is made up from professionals in management position at university research groups, institutes of applied research, companies and relevant governmental bodies. Your contribution will be highly appreciated. The survey will not take you more than 15 minutes of your time and is conducted on-line.
